Peaceful Yoga with children, youth and teens

Peaceful Yoga with children, youth and teens
"I am my friend!" Through breath and motion, we become deeply at home in the place we uniquely live: the body; and ever more at home in the place we live collectively: the world. Teaching yoga to young people is one of life's greatest joys for me. I have taught yoga to many of NYC's young people .... from kindergarteners and grade school students, to tweens and teens. I have worked with children of many gifts, challenges and developmental stages: children of all class backgrounds and cultures, children trying to do their very best, children with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum, immigrants from far away countries learning English with every move.

Toddler Creative Play Groups

Toddler Creative Play Groups
I have been "a child's first teacher" for a number of diverse neighborhood clusters, parent coops and play groups. The children gain autonomy and social competence through shared and structured opportunities, both practical and creative.

"Peaceful Yoga" for Adults

"Peaceful Yoga" for Adults
I became a yoga teacher through Integral Yoga Institute in NYC after years of study in dance and other movement forms. My gift is to make yoga accessible and delicious to experience.

Art with middle schoolers

Art with middle schoolers
Self-identity and values exploration through artistic expression are cultivated to integrate child and world, self and humanity. We learn to SEE. Processes include looking at the world to bring forth representation while also seeing past surfaces to explore structure, nuance, feeling, quality, energy. Art projects with k-3rd grade

Art projects with k-3rd grade
To bring children into embodied engagement, themes are explored through movement and theater warmups before children engage in art materials themselves. Many of the projects created are interaction-oriented to foster social skills and problem solving through imaginative play. Sometimes the children collaborate in the making; other times they use the art they've made to interact, i.e. creating puppet shows from their own dialogues. I offer contextual creative templates and fun supportive social processes for children's holistic learning. Through these, children explore art materials and engage imagination freely while encountering real-life subject matter. Through art-making, they are learning about the world. There is no failure possible, yet diversity of success always. Click the pic above for some projects done with 2-3 year olds.
